Good News

I received word yesterday from Baker Publishing that a Korean publisher has signed a subsidiary contract with them to publish and distribute the Seven Deadly Spirits book in Korean. It may take up to two years for the book to be translated, published and distributed there, but that's still good news.

God is good. Kamsamnida.

More Shameless Self-Promotion and Outright Bragging

I received a couple of personally fulfilling bits of news today, and since it's my blog, I thought I would take this opportunity to do some outright self-promotion and some bragging.

To begin with, MY FIRST BOOK IS OUT! I got word from Baker Press that my book on the seven churches in the book of Revelation has arrived at the warehouse in Grand Rapids. I have not touched it, held it, smelled it, or sat and stared at it yet - they are sending me a copy overnight - but the book is officially printed and ready to go. One other bit of good news on the book that I just recently learned is that one of my theological heroes - Stanley Hauerwas - wrote a recommendation blurb for the cover.

The other bit of good news is that I received a letter from the folk at GROW magazine today that the list of the TOP 50 NAZ CHURCHES IN USA/CANADA WORSHIP GROWTH for 2007-2008 will be published in the next issue, and PazNaz is #2. We had an increase of 305 from 2007 to 2008. That's awesome. Thanks be to God for the good things he is accomplishing through the church. These are good days.

Shameless Self-Promotion

This has been a cool week for me. Caleb started High School today (where has the time gone). And the Baker Books Catalogue came out this week and my first book is listed in it.

I was showing off the ad for the book during staff meeting and one of my smarty-pants pastors said, "How long until I can buy a copy on the $4 discount table?" Everyone around the table laughed. (It's all fun and games until someone loses their job :)).

When I got back to the office and found the book listed on Baker's Website and then a friend sent me the link to Amazon.com where it is listed also. I immediately started laughing because although the book doesn't come out until February 09 with a retail price of $16.99, you can already buy the book for $13.59 on their website or for $11.55 on Amazon. The book doesn't come out for six more months and I'm already heading for the discount table!! So much for paying for Caleb's college tuition...
