Scott, this was a good sermon. I do take issue with your comment on how much money has been spent on war since 9/11 vs. how much has been spent on trying to make peace with our enemies: my understanding is that multiple offers have been made to the Taliban to participate in conversation and process in creating a peaceful government in Afghanistan, but those offers have all been refused until the last few months. A prayer that I heard at a 9/11 remembrance ceremony on Sunday said that we as a country have become wiser as a result of the attacks, and I hope that is true: I believe that yes we need to try our hardest to make peace and try to build up, while at the same time be wise and make preparations to defend ourselves against a seemingly relentless enemy.
