This has been a cool week for me. Caleb started High School today (where has the time gone). And the Baker Books Catalogue came out this week and my first book is listed in it.
I was showing off the ad for the book during staff meeting and one of my smarty-pants pastors said, "How long until I can buy a copy on the $4 discount table?" Everyone around the table laughed. (It's all fun and games until someone loses their job :)).
When I got back to the office and found the book listed on Baker's Website and then a friend sent me the link to Amazon.com where it is listed also. I immediately started laughing because although the book doesn't come out until February 09 with a retail price of $16.99, you can already buy the book for $13.59 on their website or for $11.55 on Amazon. The book doesn't come out for six more months and I'm already heading for the discount table!! So much for paying for Caleb's college tuition...

Scott,
I have been waiting on this book for a while now, ever since I saw it advertised in your bio in "Violence and Atonement: A Theological Conversation" and now I have to wait even longer. By the way, awesome chapter in the Atonement book. I look forward to your new book. Any other new books you're working on?

I'm sure I'll be buying enough books for friends that will pay for at least one college class session for Caleb.

Well, gee, Scott, which link will I choose now that you spelled out the price difference to everyone? ;-)
Congratulations, sir! I hope you are doing well.

It's always great to see another book from a " pastor of a Los Angeles megachurch." Look forward to reading it.
I really enjoy the work Berkhof, Ellul and Wink. Your book sounds like an interesting application of their work - intertwined with systems theory- to the life of the church.
